Lead Pastor
Responsible for oversight and vision.

During active service in the armed forces in Northern Ireland at the height of the troubles, Ronnie witnessed at first hand both Catholics and Protestants perpetrating acts of violence, all in the name of religion. This convinced him and hardened his heart against religion and any idea of a loving God. However, on leaving the army in the mid-1970s, a close friend became a Christian, began to share the gospel and invited Ronnie to church. During the service and the message, Ronnie, previously a staunch atheist, was overwhelmed with a deep conviction of sin and a certainty in the truth of the gospel and, in that moment, gave his life to the Lord.

Since his conversion, the Lord has used Ronnie in serving through evangelism, as a bible-study leader, in youth work and as a Deacon. In October 1997, the Lord called Ronnie to plant and to pastor Firwood Church.

Ronnie and his wife, Doris, have been married for over thirty years and live in the Middleton area, just a short distance from Firwood Church. Ronnie and his wife have three sons, three daughter-in-laws and, more recently, a grandson.

Ronnie, despite his better judgement, enjoys watching Test Cricket and listening to the Dixie Chicks... Though not at the same time.

Ronnie regularly preaches at both Sunday morning and evening services and teaching evenings.
