Small Groups

Small Groups are comprised of people who meet in homes in the Oldham, Chadderton and Middleton area to study and discuss Scripture and to share life. Firwood Church places a high value on small groups, it is the place we get to know one another, pray for one another and live life deeply together. Firwood Church actively encourages its members to get involved in a small group.

Firwood Church currently runs five Small Groups,

Monday

All ages small group held fortnightly at Roy and Carole Milnes’ home. We are currently working through a series of studies called, Towards Maturity regarding fundamental Christian disciplines, Bible study, prayer, worship, service, giving, etc.

Ladies’ small group

All ages ladies’ small group held fortnightly at Alan and Lynn Ashworth’s home.

Young People’s small group

A young people’s small group for ages 14 to 18 held at Stephen and Pavlina Evans’ home. We are currently working through a series of youth orientated studies and discussion groups regarding issues as varied as creation, lifestyle, worship, evangelism.

Small Group at Andrew and Caroline Evans’ home

All ages small group held fortnightly at Andrew and Caroline Evans’ home. We are currently working through a series of studies called Fundamentals addressing the fundamental Biblical doctrines of the Christian faith, the authority of Scripture, the character and nature of God, creation, the sovereignty of God, the depravity of man, election, conversion/regeneration, sanctification, Christ’s return, etc.

Small Group at Janet Wharton’s home

All ages small group held fortnightly at Janet Wharton’s home. We are currently working through a series of studies called Basics answering the question, ‘What does it mean to be a Christian?’ and considering, ‘How should I read my Bible?’, ‘What is true repentance?’, ‘How do I pray?’, ‘Why is it important to attend church?’

This small group is primarily intended for new believers.
