Making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland

Songs of Ascent III – The Lord my Dwelling Place (Psalm 122)

The Songs of Ascent are a collection of Psalms (running from Psalm 120 through to Psalm 135) which pilgrims sang as they travelled towards Jerusalem and up to the temple. In Psalm 122, the Psalmist rejoices with the people of God as they reach the City of God and experience the peace and security that only the Living God is able to provide.

In the third of a fifteen part series, Andy Evans asks how, as believers living in at the beginning of the 21 Century, should we view the Old Testament promises regarding Jerusalem and the Temple of God. As we think clearly and Biblically about the significance of Jerusalem, we see that this great pilgrimage is in fact an act of drawing near to the Living God. Psalm 122 encourages us as believers to fix our eyes upon and joyfully pursue King Jesus.
